After playing AC 4 I decided to give the others a go, and because I had played literally the best game in the series first EVERYTHING else I played after (minus unity and syndicate, which I have not tried) seemed meh at best. And I absolutely loved the game AC 4 is known and widely considered to be the pinnacle of the AC series (currently) especially after the downhill and outcry of negative reviews coming after the release of AC unity and the only up-to-par AC syndicate. The second game has a MUCH bigger budget and those who have already played the first game will still always appreciate it, however when this comes out it'll most likely boot the first game out of the water.įor example when I first actually took the time to get into the AC series I decided to play AC 4 against my brothers warning. (no spoilers)īut seriously, if you play the second before playing the first you aren't going to LIKE the first. More likely than not this is going to build off of what happened in the first game. It's not like many other games where the sequels are completely separate adventures with maybe only easter eggs giving a nod to it's former.

This game takes place 50 years after the first game (goblin lifespan is apparently very great ) and as such it's simply not right chronologically if you play the second first. You very much HAVE to play the first game to play this one.
